So we all know the world cup has been a great success for many and congrats to Spain for actually winning the cup. It has shown the world that South Africa is not totally useless at doing whatever we do...
BUT!
What happens next??? I am already feeling a massive void where there once was excitement and worry for an event that has just been held and is now already over. We all talked about "2010" and how it would be so different to many other years past, which it has, but we never hazarded a guess at 2011? or 2012? Yes we could try hold the Olympics here which would be a mission because you cannot hold the Olympics all over the nation, Cape Town - Maybe.
Anyone have any wild ideas of what we can do with our lives now? I am pretty much set for the next few months what with finishing my last year of school off but what I am really thinking about is BEYOND 2010. "Feel it, it is here" is what was said, will it be "Feel it, it was here"? Will South Africans forever look back to this year?
I myself can say that during the final ceremony I shed a tear out of sheer pride for the country and how far we've come since 1994, even if I was too young to experience it for myself.
