What PC for Ubuntu

Hi all

I am an Ubuntu fan and have been using it since 12.04. This is on a PC that I bought from Matrix. I now need to upgrade to 16.04 and would like to upgrade the machine also.

On calling them I am told that they mainly use Asus boards and that they are for windows only. Now I am dumb when it gets to this level and just need a basic business machine to handle the mails and internet with reasonable speed.

Please assist if you can with advice, it would be appreciated.
 
It seems that the Asus boards in particular are very problematic. I have never given much thought to the boards and this is where I need the input.

This shouldn't matter. Asus boards can run Ubuntu.

You may want to consider 18.04 if you want driver compatibility with the latest hardware.
 
Happy to report that the Asus H110M-R board took on Ubuntu 18.04 with no problems loading and operating first time. I have installed the Nvidia drivers and there are some glitches with the graphics.
