You can just run Open Hardware Monitor and minimize it to the tray before you start the stress test and after you just open it up again and check the CPU Package and GPU Core min and max.

So I ran it now and after 5min35sec it stopped becuase one of the CPU cores hit 87deg (it seems 85deg is a safety point for the programme).

Chrcking on Hardware Monitor, CPU Package Max = 84 degrees and GPU Core Max = 73 degrees - is that good or not?

Because it was a stress test pushing to the absolute max of your system I would say it's good, in real world usage your CPU shouldn't ever reach that high again, I can almost guarantee your CPU wouldn't hit 70°C with regular usage.

The only time my CPU was around the 80°C mark was when encoding extremely high bitrate video files for a couple of hours.

Well it didn't help with the sound so just going to "ignore" it for next couple of days and see what it's like next week.

If I remember correctly doesn't Unigine Heaven have a setting to loop the benchmark, you can use that to the same end as OCCT and it will be mostly load on the GPU so the CPU shouldn't be as hot.

Or something like Geeks3D GpuTest and just let it run a hour or two.

Will give it a try in the morning and see what happens.

I forget how loud PC's get when under load. Just played 2 hours of PayDay 2 and the fans were spinning quite a bit. I know there nothing I can do about it, suppose just have to get use to it.

This is very true. Thinking about it I haven't had a PC tower in over 10 years if my mind serves me correctly. So it will take some time.

Touch Wood but the sound has stopped. I think it stopped already Friday morning after I turned the PC back on so thats good.

I am now just waiting for the WiFi extender I purchased to be ready for collection as the internet is still very up and down using this TP-Link USB device so hopefully the problem will be sorted when the extender arrives and I connect via cable.
