Also how are you liking the GPU, does it look good in the case with its backplate, how are the temps?

Yeah exactly, thats why I am not going to hold my breath :D

Yeah the GPU looks good. All feels good to be able to close the side panel! What is the best software to use to monitor the temps? I will probably search later tonight to find out what the temps should be and then compare. Any tips maybe?

I always have Open Hardware Monitor running in the background.

If I would hazard a guess, ambient temperature aside, the card should idle in the mid 30's and under load be in the 70-80*°C range.

Have downloaded it now and will let it run. Was just running a game now for a couple minutes (Payday 2) and the fans get quite loud - is that correct?

Back to WiFi drivers now, I downloaded the drivers and there is no install icon, only .dat, .dll, .sys files (and a few others). Do I just copy these to a directory?
 
Do you think its at all possible that my MacBook being on top of my PC case could have caused a problem? I just moved my MacBook away and my speeds are WAY better - getting roughly 9.5mb download speed when I do a speed test compared to the 0.3mb I was getting earlier.

Yes Macs are *** and your pc knows that, rather move the mac to the garage.

I have no idea how loud we are talking here, but a couple of 90mm fans doing 2500+rpm can be loud.

Extract the drivers to a folder, open device manager, choose the network adapter, right click, update driver software, browse my computer and point it to the folder with the extracted files.

Did that now and was told "Windows has determined the latest drivers are installed".

It is so weird and something I never thought of checking before. The MacBook has always been sitting on top the PC as my desk is not big enough for both and still needed both. The speeds and signal strength is very good as well now. My speeds is only 45mbps (when I check under connections, os that correct)? Also is channel 6 and 40Mhz the best to use or should I change it to a different channel?

edit: speed is now showing as 120mbs and then to 90mbs so I take it it fluctuates?

I wouldn't worry too much about it jumping around, also the channel doesn't really matter but keep it at 40MHz.

What do you get when you do a Speedtest?

Cool will leave it on channel 6 then and 40Mhz. Earlier I did a test and it was 9.35Mb down and just did one now and is around 6mb down. Before tho I was lucky to get 0.03mb down.

Maybe you will get better signal with 20MHz, check Speedtest with both and see which one wins, don't you have a 40Mbps line?

Will give it a try. When I change over I don't have to reset the router hey? Just saving changes is OK?

I wish I had 40Mbps. Only on a 10Mb line but syncing at 12Mbs.

On my router I just save and it works.

So if you get around 9.5Mbps that's pretty much line speed?

Yeah my router also just hit save and it works.

I was getting 9.5Mbs earlier but has dropped since then. New readings are:

20Mhz: 3.43Mbs (average) down

40Mhz: 5.53Mbs (average) down

I honestly dont know how reliable testing like that can be tho? Might as well just leave it on 40Mhz then.

20MHz should increase the range whereas 40MHz should increase the throughput, I'm just trying to figure out why you were getting 9.5Mbps earlier.

Ok I understand.

Yeah it's very weired. I tested a few times and got results in the 9Mbps so wasn't like it was just one lucky test.

If the range seems good now what should I use; 20 or 40Mhz?

40MHz, maybe it's just something else using the internet and that's why you're not getting full speed right now.
