Rhombic/ common egg eater mimmics this guy. Night adder can give a nasty bite but not deadly.

Another giveaway is the vertically elliptical eye on the eggeater usually indicates nocturnal behaviour while the night adder is diurnal and has round pupils despite the name. I'm assuming he was out and about during the day.Then say so! I am relying on Google Lens for goodness sake!

I don't need to see the eyes but OP can confirm if it was out in daylight hours or not. I can already see it's a night adder.
Mostly the more pointed snout and distinct single chevron on the neck. Dasypeltis usually have a couple of thinner markings above the neck towards the snout (on the head) in addition to a chevron and sometimes that chevron is split.@lkpat how do you tell the difference looking at that blur, what is the giveaway?
