What the hell is wrong with you eliteists/snobs...

So how many people who replied to this thread actually bank with Capitec?

I'm with Capitec and I earn more than R10 000. I have a home loan and a car loan and a credit card. I refuse to pay R2.15 (new price, up from R2)to Standard Bank just to swipe my debit card for a movie ticket or a KFC meal or whatever. I swipe for free with my Capitec card

JK8, how much do you pay to swipe your debit card? (except if you use a credit card, then thats fine, but I don't like spending money I don't have.)

Anyway, don't apologise she is a elitist snob and thats it...

And JK8 can only see fancy R250k plus cars, guess he's one too

I just did a mock comparisson with exactly the same transactions(and their implications like internet banking sms notifications) between Capitec, Absa and FNB Cheque unlimited.

Transaction charges
ABSA=R139.75 pm
Capitec=R28.80 pm (!)
FNB= R66

So, thats rather telling.
Supersunbird, if you don't mind me asking, how long have you been with Capitec and have you had any problems so far? Also what don't you like about them?

I've been with them about 6 months now.

In branch the lines can be a bit slow in moving when busy. But since its basic banking I don't really have to go to the bank that often. Their branches can do with more chairs though, to seat two people per desk, like FNS, because often there is someone coming along with the person

The internet banking site can be improved a bit. Its not always got the best layout. Tabs at the top in the Standard Bank style would be nice.

Few ATMs around but since it only R6.50 at other ATMs it often beats the costs of Standard Bank when withdrawing a large amount anyway.

I really love that I can swipe my card for anything as often as I want per day and not worry about all those little costs adding up and the debit orders are like 40% the cost of Standard Banks so thats also a lot less money going down the drain for the same service.

I don't see how a Standard Bank debit order is so much more special than a Capitec one to justify the costs. Actually it should be cheaper due to economy of scale.

Cool thanks man. Well I'm with Absa and let me tell you the ques are just as bad. Feels like Home Affairs sometimes.

Now on the internet banking, do you have options for municipality, Sars and similar beneficiaries or do you have to add them like a normal beneficiary?

Also, is there an option to pay for prepaid with internet banking?

I havent tried adding those, I'm still in the process of moving providers and devit orders over, i'll have to check, about the airtime too.

She's my GF of about a year - so yeah I have :P I'm probably in the ****e when I get home...

J

The fact that she's your girlfriend changes everything and invalidates the whole thread. Do what she says or she'll start being elitist about other services.

Its a kinda interesting look at SA attitude vs services during a possible recession too :P I think she is being stupid suckered into the branding game larger banks & other companies pay for.
