Hi everyone

Ok so we recently got Telkom adsl line after months of using 3G. We thought it would be faster and more reliable. But now we're finding that the line drops maybe 10-12 times a day for about 10mins at a time. Telkom has called it a "flapping line".

Has anyone experienced this before?

Ask them to try a lower sync speed.

Does the DSL come up again if you reboot the router ? or do you just have to wait 10 mins ? What is the router log telling you ?

Has that router got plenty of ventilation..that sounds like what happens when the router over heats
yes need more information
Router
( hahaaa never heard of a flapping line that is a new one for me )

Its a telkom hardware/exchange issue. Either bad copper or a bad exchange (can sometimes be the router itself).

Hey guys just some extra info... The router is the same router we used for the 3G dongle and it never dropped, so I dont know if its the router itself. Where we are we dont actually have phone line so cant check. It doesnt come back on if we reboot, we still wait a while.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I appreciate it

You can't have ADSL without a phone line. Do you mean you don't have a handset to plug in to the phone line?
