I struck gold at an auction. 6 "broken" thinkpads, turns out they had faulty chargers. I could sell them, but i`ve never had this amount of computing power at my disposal before. Is mining an option? Any ideas for projects would be appreciated.

I could do this, but I lack 4 cellphones and a satellite dish.

Mining isn't really profitable. Even with application-specific hardware, you'll spend more on electricity than you'll get in crypto-currency. With normal laptops it'll be even worse.

If you were feeling generous you could donate them to a school's computer lab or something.

You could also try and experiment with MPI applications if you're into coding HPC, though on six laptops it would only be useful as a test bench and it wouldn't actually be super powerful. Once your algorithms are ready you could then proceed to more advanced supercomputers.

They guy is looking for offers. Classifieds.

@OP - I am interested in increasing my computing power, but I don't open videos for sanity. Please post model numbers, I can find a charger, no problem. Are you based in JHB?

When for sale, I want it, remember I was first one to respond. Ignore all others, I will take all. :)
