I have a stack of seven or eight hard drives I've "collected" over the years. Need to get rid of them but don't have the time to hook each one up to an enclosure and permanently delete files etc.

How can I get rid of them (or destroy, although I don't have the torx bit to open them)?

I heard you can take them to an ewaste container at hifi corp, anybody used that?

@Papa Smurf, no microwaves, no fire, no battery acid. Thanks.

So, you decided not to take the old porn with you overseas now?
Just PIF the harddrives

Just put the harddrives in the wife's suitcase, not your problem if she gets bust at Customs
Thank me later

Ohh... Interesting. I'm nosey that way. Country? Feel free to PM if it's not public.

Dijkland... I'm getting myself wooden shoes and a bicycle first thing.

Technically I'm not allowed into the country yet but that doesn't stop my wife from selling everything, so I just go with it: here I am, destroying hard drives.

Drill bit to the platter.
Don't listen to Papa smurf, his palms were sweating as he typed that.

@Hamster, which continent are you absconding to?
I had some 64GB sd cards which I wanted to get rid of. I decided not to drill into them, instead leaving them in my Philips airfryer for 12 mins at 180c worked !!

Give us already integrated locals a shout if you need anything

Will do. Reckon the biggest issue once I'm there will be getting a BSN while under 20 day quarantine.

And then it's the banks. ABN AMRO looks like it will suit all my needs long term and apparently you can open a bank account without a BSN. Not the biggest issue, biggest issue is what do you do with your cash you do not want to invest since savings accounts give you 0%.

And then what do you do with your phone: do you activate roaming or just not use it until you can get a new sim.

But we'll figure it out :X3:
