What to expect from BlackBerry 10

Research in Motion will soon officially unveil their new mobile platform and a new range of BlackBerry devices in South Africa and elsewhere in the world
 
Hope it is good because as I use my devices, Android and iOs is starting to irritate me in different ways.
 
I am looking forward to this phone - I think it will be a good option. I moved from BB to Samsung - ready to go back if it is cool enough.
 
I'm excited about this. Can't wait to see the devices. Really want to see Blackberry get its mojo back.

Agree with you on this. As you know, lately I've been saying that IOS and Android have become a bit bland and thus my current Win-8 fetish.

But BB10 does seem to offer a number of features that could put it in the next-gen category.
 
I don't care if BIS is taken away. To be honest ... I want it to go away. Data costs have come down to the point where BIS is no longer an attraction for me. I would rather want speed and a fat pipe now than a throttled/limited service for R60/month.

A Blackberry that runs on "normal data" will be attractive. If BB10 is as good as rumours have it then it can stand on its own feet as a worthwhile competitor without relying on "cheap" (BIS).
 
Last night I paid R75 for 500 MB with Cell C to add data for my daughter to use on her Galaxy Y Pro. That is high speed full throttle data for R75. Why bother with BIS at R60 and wait for everything to happen (often even the simplest of tasks from my experience when I still had my Bold 9000).

The game has changed.

I can't say the same but I'm on BES as well as BIS. Do about a gig and a bit on my phone and the flat rate of R90 is great for me/us.
 
Currently using a BB is pointless even wit BIS whats da point in have internet access if you can't download,stream,on listenn to music online hopefully da BB10 will be set out to whats its been promising us it would
 
If there is no BIS what is the point of owning a BlackBerry? It looks good but is nothing special compared to the current Android/iOS devices.

And here I was under the impression RIM wants it to be a success...
 
I think RIM is in a diffirent boat now...
Previously they could dictate to the Service Providers what they wanted...almost like what Apple is doing now.
They can't do that anymore...BIS is not making money for the SP's....it's costing them.

With this product they are enticing SP's to selll their product again.
Don't be fooled...SA is the only country where they are still big...elsewhere they are going down.
 
I've noticed a trend where people get bored of their current phones, go out buy a new platform, and start dishing on all the others,,,

Later they rinse and repeat this.
 
We will know come January 30. Everything regarding future BIS solutions is speculative. However, as rumour would have it, and should BIS be curtailed to merely BBM and E-mails, then I am not sure if the BB10 OS alone will be robust enough to penetrate the current IOS/Android behemoth. I also see that their share prices have rocketed with the imminent release of these new devices, but that's probably more to do with the hype and hysteria. Personally, I really hope BB10 makes an impression on the market. From what i have seen in leaks of BB10 OS it, for me, still seems "thin" albeit a huge step-up from OS6/7.

I have mentioned it before - If BIS is curtailed/removed, then I have absolutely no reason to remain on the BB platform, and probably will move onto one of the dessert iterations.
