A 2mb British Telecom adsl back in early 2000's. Wasn't amazing but it was always up and reliable.

1200bps dial-up. Upgraded to a 2400bps SA made modem. Can't remember the brand. Big beige box. Regular visitor to the Softel BBS. Wonder where Chris is these days.

24400k dial-up modem into work intranet so that I could check on stock availability (drugs) in case of emergency, unlimited internet - work picked up the cost.

I do not miss Hellkom

We used Xsinet or something like that. Got it cheaper but had to use there app to dial up and remember there been adds. so would get monthly fee cheaper but had to deal with adds

I remember clearly that 1 MB of data used to take 5 minutes and 30 seconds to download.
I would download episodes of Naruto, which were about 70 mb or something, and it took 7 hours or something.

Even though everything is nice and instant now.
I still think the 90s were a better time to grow up than now.

90's might be better to grow up in but if we had the internet we have now in the 90's that would of made the 90's a **** load better

Who remembers iBurst. Had that for a while post ADSL between houses when I couldn't get ADSL.

PTSD right there, my girlfriend had it and it was a proper headache, expensive too! Reminds me of the old DSTV walka/drifta times.

for some it was the only way to get connectivity. I know where I stayed in Boksburg at the time Telkom could not install a line so had to use iBurst as Mobile data was just over priced

Yeah, it wasn't great. Got an MTN 3d dongle sometime around then as well, it was far superior. But they always screwed up the data counter , and I ended up with huge bills.

Eish, memory of those days was getting kakked out by my dad cos of the phone bill....

R7 weekend was a god send, until some idjit wanted to use the phone of course.
