What web-host would you recommend?

I'm in the market for a decent web-host (read affordable with good value for money)

I've done a bit of research already and so far hetzner seems the way to go, but I'd like to know if anyone here uses them?

Any idea what their (real) uptime is?
Is there tech-support any good?
Any problems experinced?

Any other web-host you could recommend would be welcomed :)

Their hosting is international, but their service and support is top notch, they've got a forum presence here as well.

Take a look at www.bisnet.co.za.

They have local (ZA) and international hosting (USA). Their local packages are easily affordable, and service with them has been excellent.
 
www.bluehost.com or www.hostican.com - both are excellent and give you your money's worth. I'm with BlueHost - about R800 for 2 years and a free domain. 300GB storage and 3000GB traffic per month. Or something to that effect. I can't recall :) But the service is excellent.

Edit: I paid via PayPal, and my domain was up and available for use within less than 5 minutes. The only difference between BlueHost and HostICan is that ICan costs in one year what BlueHost costs in 2, and ICan allows unmetered bandwidth as well as 500GB of storage. Bah... look into it and you'll see :D

I have used www.webonline.biz for both local and overseas hosting options. Used them since September 2000. All my friends use them too.

No problems, support very good. Aimed mainly at professionals, yet they are very patient with me.

4GB local, R199 per month
 
I would suggest Hetzner as well. I also had a dedicated server with Datapro until a few weeks ago and they delivered a good service. Currently using Webafrica for my shared hosting.

webafrica, webafrica, I have just moved to them from a K* host.

There support is tops. and there accounts and billing department is also great.

A word of advice, stay away from resellers. they have no/very little control over the hosting. there tech support consists of a e-mail forwarder.

but again i am not going to be embarrassed to recommend them to clients, and i think that is the most important aspect.

i agree, I'm Using Serve Hosting aswell, their Service was Excellent.
Have had No problems so far, I would recommend them.
