Whatever happened to Rollerball inline skates??

At what age did you guys start this one? Not sure if 5 is too early. Trying to see if there are skates his size anywhere.

In our complex, I have never seen any kid with roller skates. Skateboard seems popular.

It never really took off in the first place. The few kids who had it only ever used to use it so flex on the other kids then never used it again

90% of fifty something year-old me's aches are 'cos twenty something year-old me moved to Cape Town in the nineties and lived the aggressive inline skating life.

Skated to work, skated to the beach, skated out at night, up to and including hours on dance floors, and then had the weekends for the really stupid stuff...

Still have my K2s in the cupboard, 'tho they haven't turned a wheel in twenty plus years.

And now all I feel is old.

We had one set of roller blades we shared (3 kids). We would tie a rope around the seat of the bike and then we would pull each other down the sidewalk of Klerkstraat in Potchefstroom.

There was a little part that had gravel over it, and then if you don't get the timing of the jump quite right, you go home without skin on your legs. We did this with short pants because mom and dad could not afford for us to tear our clothes and what we were wearing was donated anyways, and then when you get hom you put on the long pants to hide the bruises.

The guy in front is my best friend, and the devilishly handsome dude in the green shirt is me, and that's Signal Hill, and that run started at the top of the hill and ended in town.

Those gold-ish skates were a brand called Oxygen. Loved 'em, and I had to take them to a skate store in Moullie Point after that run to have what was left of the brake drilled off, as well as replace all of the wheels from the dragging I did to manage the speed.
 
necro but we happened to be at roll egoli the other weekend and was surprised to see the crowd. Even some adults were trying to learn and kids of all ages as well. We rarely visit Brynston so it was nice to see the this side of Jozi..
