Whatever happened to Rollerball inline skates??

I learned how to ice skate first, then when these things came, it was easy.
Haven't done that in years though, at my age one has to worry about easily broken bones

You ever try them? They looked so cool
My friend had a pair so I tried them - compared to rollerblades they were slow and a schlep to use.

I did try them... they're good.
What sucked was.. the ADVERTS on TV advertising them... Good grief...
"You gotta get balls man..." I am like... WTF.. are you people trying toilet humour?

its all about balance, and using some common sense, IE if you practice in a park on grass, as low speeds, your unlikely to get hurt.
If you practice on grass you're unlikely to move, let alone get hurt.

Training wheels for roller blades. WTF!

If think of the crap I did as a kid it's a bloody miracle I got out of it alive. My kids will not be allowed half the **** I did.

My 5 yo for example wants a skateboard, not happening.
Bubble wrap works well, just remember to leave an air hole. ;)

Like the ones pictured. I remember infomercials from the late 90s for these things. They looked so cool and I always wanted to try them out but never did.

Anyone still have any?

Any good?

I only knew one person who ever got them but they never ever used it

Well trying those on grass is just crazy..

@Cr419 kids will be kids, you cannot keep them sheltered. Mine has had a skateboard since 6 years of age.

For my oldest maybe yes, my 5 yo is a reckless one. You have to permanently keep an eye on him. You turn your back for two minutes and he'll be high up in a tree when you turn around. He reminds me a lot about myself when I was a kid, and I did lots a stupid crap that could've killed me.

Mine was high up in a tree yesterday... I am not going to even consider starting the constant watching.. too much effort.

It is tiring. But school starts next Wednesday for them both luckily. Because at school they are model citizens. I had to double check with the teachers one time that they are actually talking about the right kids when they said how disciplined they are at school.

heres the thing, if you dont let kids get hurt, how do they grow up? miserable is the answer.
yes, not let them take stupid risks, but the occasional scraped knee wont kill them.

in actual fact will teach them quite quickly.

same too with driving, young people, like to drive fast and stupidly.
until they have their first accident, then they calm right down.

All fun and games, but I don't particularly see rushing to the hospital as fun, it's also not very cheap. Look, they are allowed to have fun, I just need to keep an eye on them otherwise my first mentioned scenario might just repeat itself again.

100% agree, kids are kids, and yes nobody likes visiting hospital to treat a broken ankle,
but what Im saying is it depends on age, if they are under 10, yes one needs to watch them like a hawk, as they can injure themselves very easily.

and yes I agree, sometimes they don't know its dangerous, and inadvertently do stupid things.

but as they grow up one needs to let them break bones, and learn from their mistakes.
as otherwise growing up as a bubble boy, is not fun.
