Price within the range of R50k or below. Something that can also travel and also safe.

Why is that when someone doesn't have a car in South Africa it's as if life is impossible?

Honda jazz

Mazda 2

Haval something

Stay away from polo or Yaris they are crime magnets

I know plenty people who drive or have driven a Toyota Yaris, I don't understand why it is lumped together with a Polo.

Opel Corsa B or C and as already metioned the Getz, if you can find it.
Corsa C or Honda Jazz.

The Corsa B is also good but getting a bit long in the tooth and most of them are properly trashed.

Yeah, I included it only because he is most likely to come across it below 50k, Unless it's private deals he will struggle to find a C or a Jazz for 50k.

last I looked you can definitely get a clean Corsa C or Jazz in the R50k range or even less, milage normally over 200k but either of those will run to 350k if looked after.

Perhaps a Corsa, the Jazz at over 200k kms are still over R50k. He can find one but as I said it won't be easy and it will most probably be in a bad condition.

Is this car safe? I see it everywhere but...
Not the the best, most models of the Corsa C have a drivers airbag though and power steering, some also have an aircon and Abs.

Honestly hard to beat a Corsa C especially if spares and labour costs are factored in, most mechanics can work on them and spares are widely available and cheap.
