i know bro. but it looks kark.
question i should ask is... should one eat it melted on food, or what? cause some cheeses i know, like mozzarella, tasted like cardboard if you don't melt it first.
It isn't. It's the best cheese on earth.i know bro. but it looks kark.
It's one of the top cheeses used in a fondue. As I said I made beautiful Croque Monsieurs with them.question i should ask is... should one eat it melted on food, or what? cause some cheeses i know, like mozzarella, tasted like cardboard if you don't melt it first.
If mozzarella is the king of melted cheeses, then gruyere is the queen...

Yeah, it's a toasted cheese and ham sandwich on steroids. Gruyere and ham inside, gruyere melted in a white sauce on top, and grilled. De-frickin-licious.o wow, that looks good. what is that? guessing its not a toasted cheese
I wouldn't replace mozzarella with gruyere, but it's a great tasting, great melting cheese. So the world is your cheesy oyster if you like...
I wouldn't say so. Mozzarella is much more bland tasting so it doesn't interfere too much with the flavours of a dish. Gruyere has a very distinct and sharp taste. It almost needs to be the primary flavour in whatever it's going with.
Sweet, nutty, and cheesy. So it has the personality of a good woman...![]()
is it pricey?

If you buy the French stuff yes very. But I came across a local variant in Woolies that was like 1/3rd the price and quite passable. I think it was a Simonsberg.
cool. i'll keep an eye out next time.
and recipe for that 'toasted cheese sarmy'?
http://www.kleinrivercheese.co.za/our-cheese.php could have been these guys.
Here's Ina Garten's recipe. As always, better quality ingredients will pay off.
nevermind found it.
What do you want to make tonight? What do you have? You should try the pork chops stuffed with feta and dates recipe on there. The combination of sweet dates and tart feta and savoury pork is amazing.
