Yum ummm mmmm

Tamale pie with carnitas (slow cooked pork in orange juice) and enchilada sauce and a masa/flour base.
Damn dude that looks good. Serve with tacos or anything?

I really need a phone with a better camera. This looked way better than the photo suggests.

@cerebus inspired me to make my own pulled pork in the slow cooker.

Nice spicy rub with onions, garlic and some stock for about 8 hours.

Finished in the frying pan to give it some crispy edges and cheese melted over in the oven.

Served with a quick salad and guacamole.

Enough left for another 2 dinners and lunches.

^^^ FFS! We don't need to quote the pictures twice in row. Quote the person and add '/snip' or something. Learn to forum .

Also - can a mod please remove cerebus' pic of the Tamale pie at the top of this page - every time I see it I get a cheese craving :(.

Had you frozen them? If so, did it have much effect on flavour and texture?

Had to freeze them to transport them up to Durban. No effect on flavour/texture as far as I can tell. If you do it right you shouldn't notice a drop in quality.

I know right? If I had that dish I don't think I'd be able to share.

^^^ Sorry

If those green leaves hadn't been green leaves it would have sure looked like the inner stomach lining of offal.

The savoy cabbage with those cool veiny leaaves. My favorite cabbage to cook with.
