So, in the end, with the rice, it was pleasantly nice

Yeah I agree. I'd never use cream in a curry. Coconut milk neutralises heat and it fits the palate. 2 cups of cream sounds ghastly tbh.

I agree in normal circumstances, but butter chicken/murgh makhani specifically uses cream or yoghurt and not coconut milk.

Oh man butter chicken and naan is awesome. Try to source some next time you make it.

Too much carbs. ....naan and rice (and I have to have rice).....but I know it's delicious

Made hake fillet and stir fry veg.

Veg was nice but the fish was horrible. Totally overcooked it and had to shove it down with some mayo and chilli sauce.

This is true if you go by the pure murgh makhani standard.

I would however say anything in SA not cooked by a real Indian is “butter chicken” which is something very different and not nearly close to the real deal.

I mean in theory in should then also be tikka chicken cooked tandoori style if you want to be a purist.

haha i see it was asked already

All this debate over the butter chicken........ but, seriously , thanks for this....I make butter chicken how I know it here - I'm not Indian so thanks for all the advice. Butter chicken with rice, naan bread and raita FTW.

I can return advice for Jewish and Sephardic cooking

too much carbs? but you eat rice? topkek
I'm not anti carbs/banting/shmanting. ....just saying rice AND naan bread = too much.

Maybe it's from growing up - my mom would NEVER serve potatoes AND rice together, it was only one or the other.

no dont eat both rice and naan, have just naan

i prefer rogni naan with butter chicken, it has sesame seeds on the naan

there is a indian place near your side of the world that should sell naan
