My normally sharp pink chef knife only made a dent. I needed something serrated. Next time I'll buy the pork belly from the butchery, and let them cut the skin of for me. The piece I bought from Pick n Pay had some nipples on it as well which I had to cut away for in case I start to puke  that piece was pure fat.
Score it with a Stanley knife. ;)

Mm i had one where the guy had put cloves into all the holes.

Did you try that one? This is the one I meant:

I make a different one where you use some onions as trivets. Dead easy.

The macaroni pie I had at lunchtime.

After deep fried Mars bars and Scotch eggs, Scotlands other great contribution to international cuisine excellence.

There's a waffle fryer macaroni cheese recipe I'm dying to try on serious eats.

You can also make holes in it. There's an Asian recipe which calls for tons and tons of needle pricks in it.

This is true. But good luck to the bugger that is going to try and cut it when that fat is properly crispy.

You must score it like you want to cut it. Or at least go criss cross so you have options :)

Also, as most know, I hate veggies. Made a lekker baby marrow thing last night. Lots of cheese, cream cheese, bacon, milk, eggs... and then baby marrows. Probably the only way I can get veggies into this here body.

Winter stew in Summer :erm:. Hmmm it's smelling too good right now to care about how hot it is :).

Great minds :)

Made this recipe today. Was awesome but so so rich.

Only major difference was I rendered some pancetta fat to brown the short ribs. And used chicken stock instead of beef, though I added some frozen bag juices from the last batch of sous-vide rib eye steaks we had.

Spinach leaves, red onion, cauliflower, cucumber, feta, fennel, boiled egg

oven baked: fresh ginger, mushrooms, vine tomatoes, fresh garlic, balsamic vinegar, olive oil and salt

the oven baked ginger (left bottom corner) tasted AMAZING

I bought myself a bottle of sesame oil yesterday. Cost about R101.

Still looking for a nice recipe to try it out for the first time.
