Curried fish in a tin is delicious, as is the pickled fish. I've never quite been able to replicate their recipes so I typically buy it instead of making it myself. Awesome on toast...

I think this is the first time I've seen you defeated in the kitchen.

I'm disappointed

:D

Homemade pizza. Thinking of a biltong, feta, green pepper and avo. hmmm, or maybe that for tomorrow and something a little healthier tonight. It is a long weekend after all and I tend to not eat as healthy over the weekend.

I cannot get the spice blend right. I can get the sweetness, the saltiness, the sourness, the texture - but not the spice flavour. There are quite a few things that the factories make better than I do, like Tempo chocolates. Don't ask...:D

There are few things more vile tasting than warmed/cooked biltong. I love biltong and therefore tried it a few times, but it just has this insanely overpowering, unbearable flavour.

Biltong shouldn't be messed with imo. And certainly not eaten on a pizza.

Then again, I eat pineapple on a pizza, so what do I know?

I do not eat biltong, but maybe the pizza would taste better if the biltong were put on after the pizza was baked ?

It would, but the warm sensation would still put me off a little. I suspect that it is an enzymatic reaction within biltong that results in cooked biltong tasting awful. I think I'll go investigate it. Makes sense considering dry-aging beef does induce a complex tenderising and flavour building enzymatic response, but I suspect that it is breaking down other flavonoids at high temperature...
