What's going on today?

My International link is also down.
The point is, I currently use ISDN via Tiscali......
never mind....it came up as I typed this message.
About 19h20 - 04 Oct 2003.
....
Nope down again - it's like a "jo-jo".

I'm actually wondering if Telkom have added port 7 and ICMP ping
to their list of "shaped" ports.

Ping does not get past the following router:
rrba-ip-stacker-1-fe-0-0.telkom-ipnet.co.za

If at first you can't download, try and then try again...

Yesterday I could NOT [:(] get a connection from 6.00am until 8.15am AT ALL !!

Prev evening did a 100meg download no prob !!

bloss

Just managed to get through to Telkom. (Yepppie, they answered their phone at last - I gave up earlier this morning after waiting 40 min).
The guy said they are doing upgrades since last night and will continue till the 12th. So I guess we just have to sit it out. Anyway, we are using our backup M-web dialup to run our business.

They claim that they did this because of virus activity. It makes troubleshooting pretty difficult.

Or maybe its so that we can't see where the problems are.

For the last couple of weeks I'm experiencing a lot of problems when browsing local sites. It seems that my VPN connections works fine. When you phone the ADSL helpdesk it seems that they are only trained to instruct you to clear your cache.

Even today (Sat 11h00) I had problems browsing local sites. When I switch over to my dialup my problems are solved.

What normally happens is that pages gets loaded partially (most of the graphics missing) and then you are stuffed. It even happens with the myadsl website. Normally after a minute or two I can resume with the myadsl website.

Could this be caching problems on the Telkom network ?

I'm using ADSL since last November and the last couple of months the frustration levels are getting higher and higher.

I think the basic problem is that they are just adding extra users without expanding the bandwidth. We are probably running at a contention ratio of more than 200 to 1.

Instead of expanding bandwidth they are implementing tactics thats unethical in my opinion.

It took them more than 5 years from internal ADSL trial to the commercial trial, so don't expect miracles from Telkom. Planning and solving problems are definately not their biggest assets.

Sunday morning 12/10/2003 - 6.35 am and I have resorted to using my ISDN backup as I cannot even get an ADSL connection. Just what exactly am I getting for all this money every month?

Is it still ongoing?

Starting to get that usual Sunday morning gateway timeout
errors again for anything outside of SA.

My bad, forgot the planned maintainence for today

Still, New York maintainence shouldnt have pulled the telecity link down.
