Base model - basically almost no standard equipment, only power steering

LX - added radio, aircon, front electric windows

EX was the "top model", same engine and mechanics than rest of the range, but had spotlights, side indicators in door mirrors, rear spoiler and proper mag wheels. Inside it had rear electric windows extra and the radio had the aux input (USB port) as standard.

How about the different grills on these? Both are 06 models.

You must be talking about the later models.

Lx : radio, aircon, no elec windows, side mirrors not adjustable from inside, no airbags.

Ex: mags, front and rear spoiler, sideskirts, roof spoiler, rear wiper, front fogs, elec windows, side mirrors adjustable from inside (not sure if electric)

Not sure if the airbags was year or model dependant. I have been using my SO's 2007 picanto Lx for a few months now.

Not too sure if the grille was also added to the ex package or if it was available on the other models as well

They all have P/S? This is my biggest desire atm...

The lx that we have has power steering. I would recommend you to get the ex if you can, as the extras do make the car a bit more comfortable.

Sorry doesn't look like it has front and rear spoilers. It does have the rear roof spoiler though. My mistake. Also it seems the ex has front elec windows only and driver airbag. The speedo cluster is also seems to be a better than the one in the lx.

It seems there is no definite spec level for the LX, it may have been different between various MY's

And then for the last year or so before the new shape came out, they combined all models into one, and called it the Striker, which had an airbag, elec front windows and power steering, but no ABS and the radio was optional, although most units were specced with one.

the striker would be the facelifted model, with rounder lights etc?
06/07 was pre facelift and 07/08 was facelift if I got it right

Yes you got the timeline right, the facelift with rounder lights like the one in your pic, came out in 2007. It was still available in base, LX and EX models, until they combined it in the single Striker model in 2010

Always did want to know though, as mine is the round model one without the extras like a/c, E/w and so on,
And the striker package were the last to be sold locally,
How was it done? Did they get all the cars here and fit everything locally as part of an upgrade kit?
If it was so, how much would that kind of kit cost to add?

I doubt it was added here.
Were the strikers released around the world cup time?

Okay so I think of the box shape I listed it seems to be an oddball.

I've seen on gumtree that mostly the EX has P/S but the LX doesn't and there seems to be a base model too.

(this is the pre facelift model peeps)

Btw if the Picanto and the Atos are the same car why does the Picanto sell for so much more?

Looking for a R55k Picanto - most are over 150k kms.
Same price Atos most of them have 80k - 110k kms and are usually around the R49 000 price range.

It's all down to looks?
