What's the point?

Yeah, I'm sure I'd have more "fun" living in a cave than what we have today.

Money is a means to an end possibly but it's not the be all and end all. No where did I state you have to live in a cave but some people spend their whole life chasing money rather than earning some and using it to enjoy their lives. The problem is made worse by people thinking it is the only commodity that can save them from their problems in life which isnt true. It may help but it keeps peoples minds enslaved.

Aren't you the guy who's always going on about how much you earn? Or is that messugga?

I may earn decently (in my view) but I don't allow my money (or desire for money) control my life. Huge difference.
It's also those people that do not manage their money properly that become a victim of money and ultimately debt which can cripple you psychologically. I go to work, earn my money, save and enjoy my life. Most people in this country live in the constant fear of the next debt repayment.

It is however unfortunate that someone decided to invent money which generally keeps most people trapped and depressed rather than letting them spread their wings and enjoy the great gift that life truly is.

If you know what you're doing, you can use money to buy yourself out of the trap in a fairly short time actually. Part of doing that is to realise that throwing money around isn't a great way to find happiness.

Hookers? Blow?

100% agree with you on this. I have made choices which has made it harder for me such as supporting my GF financially while she studied full time as well as emigrating which has been costly. I do subscribe to a low cost of living while still living comfortably. I don't own anything fancy whether it be house, car, clothing etc and the only splurging I do is the odd computer game or eating out once a week with the GF. I do save a large portion of money each month too. I'm basically at a point in my life where I don't actually need to buy anything to make me happy (except nice food ) because I've owned everything that I believe would make me happy. Obviously a Ferrari would be nice but I don't earn enough to be able to save to buy one cash and if I had enough cash I know I would invest it instead of buying one (never mind insurance etc) :D

I'm basically at the point where I want to enjoy the experiences life has to offer rather than the gimmicky materialistic. If money wasn't an object I would spend the rest of my life backpacking through every country in the world. Not having enough cash for retirement genuinely scares me though as I don't plan on having kids so me and my GF need to make sure we provide for this.
