What's up with all the Afrihost sux threads?

using for past month & no problems so far :D

Personally I've had nothing but exemplary service from them.

My only complaints are no rollover but that seems to be an industry norm and the lag time between actual real time usage and that which is indicated on their website.

I think what's happened with AFRIHOST is they've come out with a fantastic offer and have been inundated with new subscribers perhaps way beyond their expectations.

The net result is they may be battling with the logistics associated with this sudden growth. Growing pains I guess...

I guess it was something I predicted might happen during the early days of R29/g offer. Which some of you mis-understood and though I was bashing Afrihost.

Reason is simple for all the complains: Massive increase in customer base and their current support structure/system can not cope.

and afrihost do things a little differently, not the norm and when people see this they get upset with the unexpected result

Most of those threads are due to account cancel issues. So if you are not going to be cancelling any accounts then you are safe ;)

while i have been critical of them, from what i have seen they are willing to put up their hand and admit where they have made mistakes. not only that it seems they rectify the problems.

i suspect it is a result of what cyberarmy said above.

I'm in my third month with them and no issues whatsoever. :D

Granted, I'm not canceling and I know how to keep track of my usage, so I'm not doing the same as those having issues and those making 'issues' out of minor points.

Sad, but true. Also, you'll now be called a fanboi for pointing that out :o

Was about to say this. Express the fact that you've had no problems with Afrihost (they've been great for me) and there'll be five people with sour grapes calling you a fanboi. Who the hell says fanboi and expects to be taken seriously, other than pimply 14-year old boys with one hand on the keyboard and the other down their shorts? 'Oh no, can't download my pr0n, dude. Screw Afriho$t.'

Seriously, there just aren't enough rolleyes emoticons in the world. God forbid that the vast majority of us get what we paid for...

Dude, you're such a fanboi

;)

Afrihost just like any other ISP is open to scrutiny regarding all levels of service, billing and technical issues experienced by users.
Is that not part of what makes these forums a great place to visit: to make a reasonable judgment regarding the viability of joining any ISP?

Many people seem to be looking for some attention, and they noticed that this as an easy opportunity to get some. These threads always get some form of response without waiting for too long.

Either that or some of Afrihost's competitors trying their best to tarnish their reputation.

Shame.

Being totally uninvolved in this (not a customer) I have seen the exact same thing from you lot. So it's a bit rich bitching about the sour grape types calling you fanbois when you lot jump on anyone 'daring' to have an issue and voicing it here. Like Gecko said, this forum is here for hearing about the good and the bad, everyone has the right to their opinion ;)

Oh, you make me laugh. Way to miss the point completely

Perhaps not...

I would like to hear the good, the bad and if applicable the ugly about any ISP in these forums.
This is my primary source for deciding which ISP/deal to go with.
Actual user experience...
I am also totally uninvolved with Afrihost at present and the only way I can make an informed assessment is by viewing BOTH the negative and the positive comments here.

Problem is that of late all the negative threads, especially those involving Afrihost, have been the fault of the OP.

It has not always been the case, but often.

Well the following springs to mind as valid negative comments from recent threads. (These seem to be the main issues)

Cancellations : There seems to be an issue with billing/technical regarding this.
Usage Tracking : Afrihost have admitted themselves AFAIK that there are some technical issues regarding this.
Billing : Double debit order(s) processed.

I've had great service from them so far. There have been some hiccups for some people but I'm hoping that Afrihost will learn from this and become better as the time goes on.

I had a small problem with something that they wanted to bill that was a free gift but one email and it was all sorted out within a couple of minutes. They even gave me another domain as a gift a while ago.

So yes, there are some things which they are having problems with at the moment but it looks like they are sorting things out. If things don't get sorted out over time well then there's reason to worry. As for now I reckon they'll get better.

And for R29/GB, well I'm happy. :)
