By the way: maybe Africa should get off its own a**e and stop asking for handouts if they expect to make a "full contribution". This continent is so full of it. It has potential, sure, but in most countries there are a bunch of crazy, bigoted despots that are subjecting the same people the promised to free. These so called "leaders" are no better than the colonists before them.

I see you were touched by my signature, all that is going to happen in due time. We are busy gearing up to compete on the same level.:)

That same lady spent time in Apartheid jail cells protesting against the Nats while your precious Thabo lived in lunxury in London. What did Tbone do besides giving his opinion from his soft leather chair. Struggle hero, ha! Thabo wouldn't know a struggle if it hit him in the face! Ungrateful git, do your research before commenting.

Well, testimony to argument, for lack of knowledge...He received military training in the Soviet Union and lived at different times in Botswana, Swaziland and Nigeria, but his primary base was in Lusaka, Zambia, the site of the ANC headquarters.

While in exile, his brother Jama Mbeki was killed by agents. His son Kwanda, the product of a liaison in Mbeki's teenage years, was killed while trying to leave South Africa to join his father.

He initiated a regular radio broadcast from Lusaka, tieing ANC followers inside the country to their exiled leaders.

In 1985, Mbeki was a member of a delegation that began meeting secretly with representatives of the South African business community, and in 1989, he led the ANC delegation that conducted secret talks with the South African government.

He has a dead son and brother to remind himself of the struggle...

Must've missed that bit from where I'm sitting. But look, if you're happy I'm not going to argue.

The "masses" as you put it are far better off today than they ever were, and they are becoming better off each and every day.
Its all in the perspective as news24 explained.
Those that had no running water , now have , many who lived in shacks now have houses, electricity is supplied to many more than previously, townships have shopping malls, post offices, stadiums, people have fridges stoves, tv, satelite, goods that they never had access to under apartheid, services they were denied under apartheid, rights and education they never had under apartheid many many things are different.

I grew up as white man in this country through the 70's and 80's, the Angolan war, the "swart gevaar", all the propoganda bull that was heaped on me by the NATS, and i can see many things are way better today than they ever were in this country, and many things still need correction, and sorting out, and they will be, the problem is that many people expect too much too soon.
Rome wasnt built in a day or a month or a few years, it took generations to build it up, the same is required of us , generations.

:) Well said...

There are a lot of people living not far from here that would beg to differ. Do you ever leave Sandton for Alex?

I travel quite a lot through the Cape, and around CT, and i see many places that were shantytowns, are now houses, i see many smaller farming communites, Worcester, Ceres, Clanwilliam, Citrusdal, Calvinia, etc, and see houses not shacks, is see electricity to those houses, i see running water to those houses, i see no more "dop"system for farm workers, i see their kids going to school, wearing shoes, etc, that is progress in my books that is improvement in my books.

Well, I suppose history is written by the victors. But you are extremely ignorant to things that are not force fed to you by the ANC. There were white people in your so-called "struggle"; but in a country such as this many seem to be unsung. So don't call people "unknown" when they were a part of liberating this country.

By the way: as a white person I would also love to have been educated at the University of Sussex, but sadly my Apartheid sponsored white parents couldn't afford it.

The same thing could be said about Soweto from the 1960s-1980s?

A good start would actually be electing a leader that passed high school. Till then, IBIWISI.

"World civilization will not be complete until the African has made his full contribution"

With a sig like that you'll be forever disadvantaged, just like Zim.

Great contributions made in Zim huh.

So whats wrong with whites??? Why so obsessed with us?

Hmmm... must be ingrained because he still spends most of his time outside of this country.

No use in educating racists about what the African leaders had gone through to get this country to what it is.

Clever boy, how do you suggest we educate the leaders of our ruling party - you have to agree that old JZ certainly could do with some sex education as well (shower story).
