I have 3, one of which I have had the pleasure to drive and the other two are not that hard to get your hands on - except if you are in South Africa :cry:

1) 1969 Mercedes SL280 :

There's one in CT being sold for R900k :) Exact replica - same paintwork etc.

This is still one of the most beautiful cars for me: Aston Martin V8 Vantage

This would be my weekend toy Ford Focus Rally Car
 
Let's be reasonable here, none of the dream cars I have seen so far here can be had by mere mortals such as you and I.

Had this been the UK or Germany then at least I would be able to get one of my dream cars. Although I am very thankful for having a friend with the SL 280. It is amazing to sit in a car with those lines and a slick 4 speed auto box doing 200km/h. This is a car that is 40 years old and still manages to raise the hairs on your neck in more ways than one.

The Vectra I like because of its underdog image and its quite weird to think of an Opel being big and luxurious. The Hyundai... well, just listen to that V8 when they floor it in Inception. No wonder it has won so many awards and if you think about it, we are talking about the same company that makes 1.1l engines for the i10. Its not like BMW or Mercedes that churn out high quality 6 and 8 cyl engines for a living. For them to come up with an engine like that, and a car to match it... Well thats why its one of my 3 dream cars.

Except the one in the image is nowhere near an original GT500 and was done specifically for Gone in 60 seconds. It's just a pimped Fastback. The ones for sale were fairly readily available. They did a Supersnake version that had a supercharger fitted, which made it fairly potent. These reproductions were of terrible quality though and the Mr Shelby ended up withdrawing his name from supporting the company that produced them and they eventually got shut down because they were selling stock they didn't have.

Now, my more realistic dream car is a 67 Mustang Fastback and if I had a couple hundred thousand extra, I'd get someone like Troy Trepanier make it prettier, in a similar fashion to the Fastforward Fastback they did for eBay.

For me a dream car is unattainable. Wouldn't be a dream car if it were not, would be my next car...

Thanks, I was wondering about that. Reason being, I looked at pics of the one in CT being sold - thinking it was a vintage being polished up ... but when I looked at the pic I saw a second Eleanor in the same pic, which gave me a hint at it being a glorified puppy mill. :/ Still a really pretty car, but I'd rather get the 2nd hand aston for that price.

OK, that is one way of seeing it. For me a dream car is something I dream about owning one day in maybe 10 years time or more. By then cars will have changed and I will most likely have another dream car by then. But your point of view is still a good one.
