Pick one: (A poll would be nice, science mods... whoever you are)

1) Climate change is occurring, it's 100% anthropogenic and the effects are definitely going to be catastrophic.

2) Climate change is definitely occurring, it's predominantly anthropogenic and the effects are likely to be negative.

3) Climate change is definitely occurring, it's predominantly anthropogenic but it's impossible to say what the effects will be.

4) Climate change is definitely occurring, it's predominantly anthropogenic and the effects will be positive - plants love CO2!

5) Climate change is definitely occurring, but we don't know what's causing it or what its effects will be.

6) Climate change is definitely occurring, but it's all just a natural cycle - nothing to worry about.

7) Climate change may or may not be happening, we can't predict these things.

8) Climate change is a lie!

1) I think... Though I don't understand the meaning of the big word there. :)
I think there are a number of contributing factors.

2) My view is that there are a number of facts that can not be denied unless you ascribe to that disagreeable proverb of the ostrich and the sand.

And I cannot understand why there are so many deniers.

I will go with no.6. nothing is going to happen.it is just a natural process. But that doesn't mean that you should just sit and watch, it is little bit in our hand also like keep cleaning our surroundings, more plantation.

3.5) Climate change is definitely occurring, it's been occurring for a few billion years. The present climate change is a combination of natural variation and anthropogenic contributions, however we do not know the full extent each factor contributes and it is not likely that we can predict with a lot of certainty what the effects will be.

That sounds like a solid (3) to me. 3.5 seems to imply that even though we can't predict what the effects are going to be, it seems more likely that they would be positive rather than negative.

*edit* nevermind, I guess a 3.5 also indicates a less certain stance on the effects of anthropogenic factors.

Perhaps the title should state "Man made climate change"?

9) I don't know. If we do manage to decrease climate change, aren't we just delaying the inevitable? Would it matter after the human race is gone?

/don't get me wrong I am all for trying to save the environment for our children and their children's sake. But a time will come when earth will no longer be able to sustain life on its own, no matter how good we look after it.

I think that life on earth still has a few billion years before the sun dies.

You're missing a 4.5 - Climate change is definitely occurring and is being caused by a combination of natural and anthropogenic causes. Its effects are likely to be negative but not catastrophic.

I think that pretty much sums up Techne's 3.5 above.

I would make a 2.5 actually. Its hard to say what the effects will be but through studies at the polar ice caps we can deduce that it is likely to be a negative thing (For our wide spread species) although positive for the planet. Sooner or later the reset button needs to be pressed, unfortunately for us, when it happens we will be nearly wiped out of existence. If not completely added to the extincion list.

As a species we deserve nothing less for our abhorrent actions.

We humans are too adaptable to be wiped out by climate change. Dying by our own weapons is far more likely.

I also hate the polarization that has appeared on both sides of the debate - it doesnt help matters when stating a different opinion leads you to be labelled an idiot.

Totally depends on how violent and drastic that climate change is. I find it quite ironic that the 1st world northern hemisphere will most likely be the hardest hit if an ice age is the result. Making the 3rd world souther hemisphere the safer place to live as far as climate change is concerned. But its the worst place to live as far as personal safety from other humans is concerned. Hopefully the world gives us some kind of forewarning before it tries to destroy us. So that the technological leaders in the north have the time to get out, so that all those skills are not lost beneath the ice.

The next fews year will be interesting
