WhatsApp activation

I had a similar issue when I was in the US this year. I decided to flash my note 4 with the note 7 firmware. Worked a charm. Until I realized that I needed the Sms to activate whatsapp. Lol.

Anyways, you can still get the activation code via voice mail. So if she is able to access her voice mail from there, it might be the best solution.

Rather use Skype or even Google Hangouts. These will work on any device.

as per my other question does she not have sms roaming active?
alternative she can choose the call me option but let the call go to voicemail, she can check the voicemail from another phone (or you can do it) to get the verification code
How do one choose call me, during verification, and do someone perhaps know how to retrieve voicemail from another number on TM

And from the WhatsApp website:
How to verify
Enter your phone number:
Choose your country from the drop down list. This will automatically fill your country code on the left.
Enter your phone number in the box on the right. Don't put any 0 before your phone number.
Tap Next to request a code.
Enter the 6-digit code you receive via SMS.

If you didn't receive the 6-digit code by SMS

Wait for the progress bar to finish and retry. The wait may take up to 10 minutes.
Don't guess the code, or you will be locked out for a period of time.
If the timer runs out before you receive the code, an option will appear to request a phone call. Choose the Call me option to request the call. When you answer the call, an automated voice should tell you the 6-digit code. Insert that to verify WhatsApp.

Although I'm not sure that will work with voicemail. Activating roaming on the sim card, or doing a sim swap, is probably your best bet.

It should work if I'm not mistaken it repeats the code a few times so should catch it on the voicemail.

I sent a friend my info, he printed it, went to a telkom shop and got the new sim for free. Now must just do the deed. Now must just time sync with my daughter.
Thank everyone for there moral support and advice.

I don't understand the problem (possibly because I've never thought much about it), but once it's registered with a SIM, do you have to do it again when she goes to another country?

Can't she get a SIM, get it registered once and for all, and then continue using it?

she got a new phone, and didn't activate roaming (I assume) so cant get whatsapp on the new phone cause she cant get the SMS whatsapp sends to verify the number.

New Phone = Re-activation.
