Whatsapp backup on Iphone WITHOUT Icloud, possible?

It may somewhat explain the deep-seated hatred he has towards all things Apple as he has never actually used a fully functional device but instead been battling with MDM-restricted ones (possibly done by idiots) which is why he considers them all so broken.

Although I don't recall such a particular setting I wouldn't be surprised if it's there. I definitely recall there was one relating to enforcing encrypted backups which could also be where it's falling apart for our poor fanboy who has never learnt anything new in years of fighting the fruit fight.

But if the devices are pre-staged for enrolment that could already be why restores fall apart.

And the MDM is likely the reason none of this works. If they blocked iCloud for security then it's not at all unreasonable to think they would block backup/restores as well in an effort to limit data leaks.

Likely exactly the reason why they issue iPhones instead of Android garbage in the first place.

Willing to bet they've disabled Migration Assistant and/or Airdrop which is why the transfer doesn't work. Killed backups/restores which is why that doesn't work either.

It seems like everything is working as planned, but nobody bothered to inform you fully.

yes we have MDM and yes it blocks lots of things,
wont ever be disabled, but now the question starts, is there no other way going from one secure Idiotphone to another idiotphone?

I backup using iTunes. Its more reliable then iCloud. A new phone in Nov, when restored, had stuff missing. The restore using iTunes worked 100%

Call me old-fashioned. I like using iPhones, they seem more intuitive

Fully functional??? Ive worked on a few of those and their bigger Dog turds that the MDM restricted ones,

had to help my one uncle with transferring from one imac to another, useless garbage all of them are. so many things didnt transfer,
and he had icloud turned on . so again @SauRoNZA me and Apple will never be friends, the greatest day of my life (I might even film it)

is when the Garbage truck comes and takes all our 7's and crushes them to dust with its big hydraulic ram, I'll probably dance and sing

You haven't needed backups to move over to new phones in years now.

You don't need to "restore" only migrate from one phone to the other putting them next to each other and letting Airdrop do the work.

But yes if you didn't have every single box ticked for iCloud (and it's an idiotically long list to check if you've had a phone a couple of years) then things would go missing as they obviously haven't been backed up.

But really restores are no longer a thing unless you've lost the device.

Don't ask me, ask the people administering your system.

It may or may not be the case.

If you policy states no WhatsApp though....well then that's that. But then I would expect your MDM to block WhatsApp in the first place.

We had a dude last year who first threatened and then threw furniture at HR in a disciplinary, threatening them with all sorts of bodily harm.

Do not want a repeat of that, it is very unpleasant.

You realise you don't need to like Apple to actually do a good job working with they products and supporting your users right?

My best Apple guy is one who doesn't actually give a single toss about Apple and is all about Android and Linux.

So why are making this thread? You hate iPhone and have to use it for work, I get that. But if you need WhatsApp for work then you just need to transfer from the 7 to the 12? So where does Android come into it? Clearly you won't be transferring your personal WA messages from your own phone to your work phone?

Dude, you actually seem a little unstable with this obsession.
