WhatsApp blue tick read receipt launched

I am totally against this feature. They should at least allow users to turn it off. Going to cause a lot of annoyance
 
As far as I'm concerned, this really doesn't change much. If some has their last seen status enabled, you are already able to ascertain that they have gone online. The only difference now is that you can see whether some has decided to open your specific message.

If someone was online multiple times after your message was delivered and the ticks are still grey, its clear that they are avoiding you, even if they haven't "read" your specific message.
 
Does it blue tick if the notification pops up on the phone or when you open whatsapp and go into the chat?
 
Weird, I noticed this last night for the first time, yet I had not updated my Whatsapp for a few months I think

It appears to be when you open whatsapp and then go to the specific chat.

By annoyance I'm referring to people nagging you when they see you've read their message and did not instanlty respond. I have my last seen status disabled just to avoid that so now....
 
Two ticks = delivered, 2 blue ticks = read. Its not that difficult guys.

Sometimes diplomacy is required. This force you to reply to those people when you're still tending to something/someone else. Will not be a problem if you can disable it.

If you disable it, then what colour does the tick-mark become? Delivered?

Because that could ALSO be misinterpreted ("I sent you a message a week ago - why didn't you read it?").

I must say, WhatsApp can really cause issues and I wish they'd just give better privacy controls. I've upset people by WhatsApping them "too late at night", by leaving group chats at the wrong time or by "ignoring" them.
