Hi, is anyone else experiencing issues with whatsapp?
Messages just sit with a little clock image until i switch data off then back on. Happens a few times a day on my S7.
All battery saving options are off. Also happens on my gf's S6 which is completely stock. Happened on the S6 with vodacom and now with MTN as well. It's an intermittent issue but so annoying. Other apps like Allo and Hangouts will send their messages while Whatsapp is still sitting with the clock image next to the message.

I've reset my S7, tried other stock roms from other regions... still the same.

I also see it from time to time on my Huawei P8 Lite. Too often, actually.

Maybe its a connection at the WA servers (possible DNS error?). See this often with WhatsApp but never with Telegram.

I also get the same thing often with mweb but never with data with iPhone 7

So it's probably a whatsapp issue? Why don't more people use Hangouts? It seems better and has some extra features. Been using it off and on for years but I think I'll stick to it now that Whatsapp isn't very good at INSTANT messaging.

Because Hangouts is slow as molasses.

Does the same thing on my S6 edge, its not a network fault, appears to lean more toward the device.
When i forward images etc i wait for the clock to disappear and be replaced by the tick, only takes a couple of seconds.

I have noticed that outgoing messages are fine but incoming messages are delayed as much as 20 minutes sometimes

just for the record, when I finally convinced my brother to switch to telegram we did this fun little test.

myself, my wife and my brother all on the same wifi network.
I send telegram, wife sends whatscrap. one message, "hi" he responds with "hi"
this is all of us in the same room. on the same wifi.

I got a response, and sent a gif before the whatscrap came though.

and the recent noticeable slowdown has most likely been due to the server side changes Facebook is forcing whatscrap to make in order to push marketing to its users.

not saying you should switch, but it will definitely make your life easier.

Telegram definitely receives quicker. Maybe WhatsCrap polls the server at a longer interval so as to not overload the servers with polling queries?

WhatsApp messages to Canada and back are instant.

WhatsApp messages to EdenVale there's a delay.

Whatsapp was also instant years ago. They grew too big with too much traffic. If we all change to Telegram it will also slow down and the only way to handle the server load is to monetize it.

Enjoy it while it last.

There was no slow down at all when all of Brazil joined when the Brazilian government blocked whatsapp.

Russian developers man...
Also they helped with the load balancing when pokemon go released.

The founder made the Russian Facebook. He has made his money and now wants to keep impressing Snowden...

Yep that's cos no one uses it. So there's not traffic slowing it down

100 million active users and 15 billion daily messages is not nothing. As mentioned, during the Brazil Telegram invasion the network didn't miss a beat.

Telegram is a much more lightweight app than WhatsApp - it makes sense that efficiencies would be present elsewhere in the organisation.

Bollocks, happens on iPhone as well.
