Wife says she got a whatsapp about it and asked me how much data it uses. I have no idea I answered.

mmm think it is between 400kb and 1 meg per minute. If on 3G, it would depend on how big your bundle is and how much it cost, as in most cases the bigger the bundle, the lower the in bundle rate and therefore the cheaper your data consuming whatsapp call will be.

Source: Worked in the industry for 2 decades. The messages are 100% accountable. They aren't good for much, but they are good for that.

If it doesn't reach the other side, one can get the providers to give you details from the SMSC exactly what happened - phone off, SMS mailbox full, etc.

Something the operators do support is RCS. Vodafone have the "Message+" client for this.

They obviously do not push for this, as they make more money from traditional SMS, but this strategy might come back to haunt them.

Actually, pushing it pretty hard and it's growing quite nicely in uptake.
