WhatsApp denies quietly accessing user microphones after Elon Musk tweet

A bug in either Android or WhatsApp has caused an uproar online as the popular chat app appeared to be accessing smartphone microphones while not in use.

The issue drew widespread attention after Elon Musk replied to a post from Twitter engineer **** Dabiri with the caption "WhatsApp cannot be trusted".

all smartphone microphones are active all the time, do we really want to go down the Snowden Route
and plug in a Microphone when you want to make a call, having de-soldered the onboard microphones.

even notice those ads that seem to be on exactly what you were speaking about a few Hours ago.
how do they work, smartphone Microphones are Always active, regardless or what is running or not.

hell turning your phone off makes no difference, Snowden's solution is the only smart idea.

Elon Musk cannot be trusted. Twitter app is low quality.

I just noticed the green dot for my video camera detection is flashing green occasionally, This is on the task bar after ugrading to the latest android. Put a it on a wireshark TAP and the phone is talking to a kakhuis vol sites. Haven't tracked one that isn't related to an app but the most difficult to determine what they doing is the ad sites. Just blocking them with AdGuard Home.

No, the solution is a dumb phone. I'm bringing my Nokia 6210 Navigator out of retirement.
