Whatsapp service extension

Anyone else get a message from whatsapp about a service extension?
Mine says it now expires on the 29/04/1974... errr 1974? really?

Yip also got the 1974 expiry message.

Just checked now, expiration: Lifetime.

Never paid for it and started using it on an iPhone, now on Android.

I think since this app always get extended another year everytime, we will never have to pay for it.

A life license is a good way to go bankrupt in a couple of years. I am happy with the yearly model. It makes sure that whatsapp will be around and updates for as long as users want it.

See they added a 5 year extention. How does the extension work if mine only expires in 2014? Do they add the 5 years to that?
