WhatsApp testing reactions feature

WhatsApp messages could support reactions soon, according to a WABetaInfo report.

The developers of the Facebook-owned app are busy adding new messaging features, and the next is expected to be message reactions, WABetaInfo reported.

With the implementation of this feature, WhatsApp will join platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and iMessage in supporting reactions to messages.

I cannot see the benefit at present. Perhaps when it is implemented, I will.

You can currently reply by quoting a message and insert an emoji. Is that not a reaction?
In group chats it makes more sense where 50 people don't all need to reply with an emoji because they liked something or whatever. Kind of how the forum works.

Will be a nice improvement... hopefully they make the notification options granular.

All this hoo-ha and yet you still cannot correct a spelling mistake via Editing because it does not exist either by design or because of a lack of common knowledge and/or interest...

There's a technical reason behind it. Same reason Twitter doesn't have such a feature. It appears it's you who lacks the "common" knowledge here.

And the technical reason is as you seem to have the 'common' knowledge? Would like to know...

I really hope they implement a quick "how to use reactions" training module when they roll reactions out. It would make larger groups so much more tolerable if we can get rid of "quoted message"/thumbsup spam.

As for editing messages - I don't really care what Whatsapp's excuses are. They've succeeded with the greatest edit of them all, which is Delete. Just a bit of effort to allow editing with a timestamp to say it's been edited. Bonus points if you can view the edit history.

*Edit - because I can

I jent see why it is necessary.
Well, it is a feature on Skype/Discord and Telegram. I work on all those platforms and in fact, run a business online office on Discord 24/7 hence my question as to what it is that's preventing them from installing an Editing function...?

End to end encryption, no not Telegram’s idea of it.
