WhatsApp users are flocking to Telegram

Users around the world have flocked to Telegram after WhatsApp's most recent privacy policy update, and South Africans are no exception.

WhatsApp updated its privacy policy and terms of service on 7 January, stating that users must accept them by 8 February 2021 or they will no longer be able to continue using the app.

So? Telegram is a non-profit with no advertising budget and has over 500 million users. And WhatsApp is years behind its feature set. I'd say they're doing okay.

I believe the normal private messaging and calling features as well as group chat features will remain free as is. Only new premium services which we will have to wait and see what they are will be charged for. Time will tell. If people are not happy with what they have to pay for, they will move elsewhere like Signal

• Everybody is jumping onto WhatsApp Telegram
• A couple of frontiersmen punt Telegram Signal but nobody cares because nobody is using it
