WhatsApp voice calling tested

Android users can now access WhatsApp’s voice calling feature – here’s how.

So you can call directly to someone's mobile number using Whatsapp and data? This will change everything. I thought it would work pretty much like Skype, where you can only call contacts.

Not if it's encrypted. They have no way of distinguishing data being used for voip calls from other data if the data is encrypted. All the threats from mobile operators is just hot air.

Just a little FYI, you don't have to download the APK. All you need to do is uninstall WhatsApp and re-download from the Play Store.

My brother and I both got version 2.11.561 installed but don't have any call tabs or any menu to make calls, what am I missing?

Just updated from the play store to 561 - didn't need to do anything fancy, my phone just notified me that the app had an update available...

I did not have to uninstall, I just loaded the latest version which was 561.
