WhatsApp working on new Edit Media feature

Because everyone is still on Whatsapp and no one is on Telegram.
Start introducing people to Telegram, I have like 3 people left on WhatsApp and that's mostly because they have Huawei devices where it puts Telegram into sleep state or whatever it is, so no notifications, even if you say it's not allowed to hibernate it and all the other steps.

I'm not that influential.

Well, one of the most annoying features on Telegram is that it says "x has joined Telegram", I get that near every second day now, most of those people are just in my contact list from some whatsapp groups.

Nah, I'll move over when everyone else is no longer using WhatsApp. Then again, you weren't talking to me.

EDIT: And only 3 people still on WhatsApp? LMAO, sure, unless you only have 8 contacts.

I have a long scroll wheel on Telegram. :p
No seriously, from like two years ago, when it was maybe 3/4 of us, to now over ~50 people within the last 6 months, it's been quite a change. One of the main ways we got people over is due to:

1. The cloud based backup, WhatsApp makes 7 backup files, those can be huge. For me with 2 active groups it's about 70MB each, which is 500MB of space. On my old 16GB storage phone, that's quite substantial. If you include all the media, it gets even bigger, meanwhile on Telegram I can tell it to remove from my local device after x amount of days, yet still have access to it by scrolling up.

Telegram's app is also substantially smaller:

15 MB.

2. At uni, WhatsApp doesn't work properly behind the proxy, Telegram I can set the proxy.

Again, I am probably a lot younger than you, we try out whatever is new.

3. Is mostly me, I love having a desktop client that I can run in the background, web.whatsapp is just huge/clunky to remember which window has the tab. Plus easy file sharing between desktops, could probably also use a GDrive shared folder instead, but that's more effort.

4. Themeing. Does WhatsApp have a dark mode yet?

And there are a host of other "little" things, like how much easier it is to attach images, better galleries, the ability to swipe back to the main chat page, groups having the ability to have discussion on a post rather than cluttering the main group, sitckers (yes, I actually convinced quite a few girls to sign up through this, still unsure why), and up until recently the playback of voice notes in succession and then for work group the double playback speed and we have a bot converting speech to text (though that's a hit and miss depending, but usually gets the point across).

This is also pretty cool: https://telegram.org/blog/contacts-local-groups
Will probably create one when I go back to uni, will be interesting to see the use. There are a ton of nearby groups just here in atlantic seaboard CT.

The add nearby people feature is also great, have already used it once now.

I've not lost a single whatsapp contact to telegram. We must move in very different circles.
Probably, try installing Telegram and see how many that are there, it's a tiny app.
Reading through my contacts list, I have about 40 as "seen recently", about twenty within a week, and a few more within a month.

And you won't lose them, why can't people use both apps?

Not interested, WhatsApp still works 100%, no need for yet another IM.

EDIT: Anyway, 44 on Telegram, 242 on WhatsApp, so no, not going to work for me.
