WhatsApp launches big multi-device change

WhatsApp's new multi-device capability has started rolling out to iPhone users.

Several MyBroadband staff members running WhatsApp on their iPhones and computers confirmed they could use both WhatsApp for Desktop and WhatsApp Web without having their phones actively connected to the Internet.

Works for me too. Now trying to figure out if there is a way to trick WhatsApp into thinking the browser on my Android phone is in fact a desktop and I can run WhatsApp on a second phone through the browser. But I'm not much of an Android guy so no idea if there is some type of Windows emulator or something that I can run a browser on???

I wonder if it'll work on an iPad also?

You can run WhatsApp through Chrome on Android, just go in the menu and tick desktop site and then go to WhatsApp Web

I've been using this for a while now?

EDIT: It should be noted that none of the users had signed up for the multi-device beta, which provides early access to the capability.
Ah, ok.

Been using this for over a month now on Beta and it's a wayyyy smaller deal than it seems.

You can still only have one phone, should you require any other device you will be required to use the web version of WhatsApp. This means that you still can't share WhatsApp Business with another person, which honestly is ridiculous in this day and age.

Got it on a phone and want it on your tablet? Nope. The same thing, you have to use WhatsApp web on the device in desktop mode, which of course, brings terrible scaling and performance.

Great concept, just basically no execution.

Got it, thanks. And I agree with the other comments, it’s pretty bad with the scaling but could prove useful for me.

yeah scaling and notifications are an issue

Looks pretty decent on my iPad but I mostly wanted it on my works Android phone for travelling overseas. I can put a local sim in the dual sim slot and have constant WhatsApp connection with home.

You don't take your own phone when you travel?
