I am going to through this one out, seeing as this is where the masses are pushing ISP's.

Now that anyone can get unlimited bandwidth @ R300 odd pm, when will we get completely free & unlimited internet?

Oooh ooh I know this one!

"Imminently"

Greedy, greedy.

When you give us free hosting first.! lolz. :D Seriously I don't think its such a crazy idea, kind of like if you told somebody there would be an operating system that is free. I imagine Bill, Steve and the other homies would have laughed in your face.

You mean, like all the people in South Africa who get free electricity and free water? I guess as soon as we figure out how to bypass the meters, like they do.

Today, broadband is a utility, like any other utility. Everyone home should have it, and you should be able to choose who to buy it from. Unfortunately, like so many other things in this country, the cost of services is borne by a small percentage of the population, placing real economic limits on how low the price can drop before it becomes unviable to provide it.

roughly the same time as world peace ;)

So when are we gon get free hamburgers? I mean, if they're so cheap, why not give 'em away for free?

When you're willing to pay more taxes.

But of course, there are a lot of things on the priority list long before you reach Internet, including free water, free food, free electricity, free transport, etc. All of which would be baseline products/services.

How about a new system (in the lines of) called "Telecommunications Tax". So everyone gets uncapped/free Internet access.

Because the majority of the people in this country wouldn't agree with it. That and the infrastructure isn't laid down, like say TV.

Nobody here is old enough to remember ABSA free internet?

How old are you guys?
