I haven't used windows in a few years, other than here and there for excel/word when needed.

I'm trying to install a simple application on a Windows machine, logged in as myself as an administrator.
First it failed trying to install saying I don't have permissions... oh wait, even though I'm an admin I still need to right click and run the install as admin...

But then there's left overs from the previous failed install which now give more errors..

Then I try removing that... now I have registry keys access denied errors.
What a pile of garbage

More likely it's the app you're trying to install that's garbage.
If previous failed installs left things behind after rollback then the installer wasn't authored properly.
Sounds like an ancient installer if it didn't prompt for elevation instead of just failing.

Eventually got it working after restarts and cleaning up.

Use Revo uninstaller followed by CCleaner to scan for left over files.

Else reformat if you can and start fresh.

What program is it?

It's an application for my alarm
But all good now, only took 45 minutes to get it installed
