When do ISP's Throttle Uncapped

Hi

I'm currently on a 2meg line with Telkom and they throttle me once I reach about 100gb. Seeing the prices of companies such as MWEB and Cybersmart I'd like to switch over but I'd like to know at what point would they start throttling a 4meg line.

Go for a capped account

Cheap uncapped accounts aren't great.

Capped accounts are generally unshaped and you know exactly what you are getting. Capped accounts also offer uncapped from at least 12pm-6am so you can schedule all your big downloads for this time.

My recommended ISP's are Afrihost, Axxess, Vox and Crystal Web but I would skip Afrihost and Axxess if you are in Durban or certain parts of Capetown there is something funny going on. Afrihost is cheap, Crystal Web has the best support, Axxess and Vox are great all rounders but all of them have problems from time to time.

I see Afrihost has a 200gig deal for R199 which should suit your needs but even 100 gig deal with scheduling your downloads at the right times could work for you.

If you are planning on streaming make sure you double whatever your data consumption is now.

Our throttling works on a 30 day rolling window. We have 2 different 4meg uncapped products with different thresholds, standard and premium.

The threshold for the 4meg standard uncapped product is approximately 150Gb.
The threshold for the 4meg premium uncapped product is approximately 600Gb.

The threshold for the 8meg standard uncapped product is 250Gb. Please confirm if you would like the price for the Data plus ADSL line or Data only package.
