Huawei is actually pronounced "who are they " because they are growing so fast that they are surprising people all over the world that have never heard of them ! But the P6 would probably get kitkat in a few weeks...there are firmware that would work on our P6 but does not have GApps. I find it hard to believe that Samsung users have to wait till their service provider makes new firmware available ! Surely there must be a international version available ?

You dont have to use a custom ROM, just monitor www.samfirmware.com for your phone's latest firmware, download it and install it via Odin.

I've been reading up a lot on what Samsung's Android Kitkat update schedule will be like for the older phones, like the S3 & Note 2 & it seems like they will eventually get the same UI as the Galaxy S5.
The Galaxy S4 & Note 3 got the Android Kitkat update now, but the Note 2 and Galaxy S3 are still on 4.3 . Not sure if it will be the Galaxy S3's last update, cos RAM is a problem. Not for Android, cos Kitkat actually uses less RAM, but for Touchwiz.
So....the Galaxy S4, Note 2, Note 3 and possibly S3, will get the new Touchwiz UI after it has been updated to Android Kitkat. Might come as an update by itself, or be part of the next Android version update.
*Not very familiar with Sony, LG and HTC update schedules.

My Note 3 has Kitkat, and everything looks the same. No sign of the S5's iTouchwiz interface.

I have said that the new Touchwiz UI might be rolled out as an update, or be included in the next software update.
What do you mean? Im with Vodacom and still on 4.3. When I try to do amd update, it says I already have the latest updates already. Am I missing something here?
Nope, mine is on 4.4.2. Do you have the N9000 or 9005?
Maybe they don't send the update to everyone at once for some strange reason, like they did with the S3.
I have a S4 I9505.
Oh, for some reason I thought you meant the Note 3. Those are already on 4.4.2. But as others have said, you could always just download an international version of the firmware and flash that without rooting.
