When last did you encounter a virus?

Most internet users nowadays need protection against spyware, ad-ware, browser hijack attempts etc. These appear to me to be more common than a virus/infected file.

When last did your antivirus warn you about a virus?

I think I last stopped one about a month ago.

Only Malware blocked by Anti-Virus Apps.... The shared workstations at work is a breeding ground, have to remove 3-4 a week...

Chernobyl Virus

When did the Chernobyl CIH Virus come out?

I was using a Slot One P2 350 with a Intel 430TX Motherboard, the board before the famous 440BX. (1998?)
The Chernobyl Virus wiped out the Bios completely. At the time I didn't have a clue what had happened?

That was (touch wood) the only virus I have ever had on a PC owned by myself.
So far.

The netbus backdoor trojan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NetBus) back in the day. Someone started moving my mouse around, and then my CD-ROM opened. I remember just pulling the computers plug out at the wall. I remember then installing Netbuster (http://www.megasecurity.org/Security/netbuster1.31.htm) to reverse the actions done by the 'hacker'. Those were the days...

I think I last stopped one about a month ago.

I personally think that viruses will go away slowly but surely. The bad people are concentrating on stealing information or money, so spyware will be the next big thing. My partners in Canada send me a report that shows that in 2004 more than $30 billion was stolen out of bank accounts through spyware. In the US the goverment take spyware very seriously, more than viruses.
