When Should I Be Worried?

I'm not that interested in whether you like what
or how I post. This is a feedback forum and that's
what I'm doing. If it irritates for whatever reason
(fanboi, employee etc) then live with it or don't
read it. I can only give accounts of my own
experiences or what seems to be a typical one
based on other feedback. I have noticed a few
people who's mission online seems to be to
plug MWEB. Part of their campaign no doubt.

Lol I haven't got my cheque for being part of their campaign yet.. so I might stop soon :(.

My problem with your post was that you posted nothing useful to answer the guy you quoted's question. You just copy-pasted some blanket statement about their shaping that you've probably said a few times before. He asked whether after hours and on weekends sites like megaupload are "open" as opposed to being unusable, which they definitely are. You just said "they shape all the time dude". That's what I call being an anti-"fanboi" (well hater) and posting useless stuff just to keep on making the same points.

I did 776GB's in one month on a 4mb account and BAM no more internets. From Mweb at least...

Elev8r: did you perhaps evade Mweb's shaping by making use of a VPS of some kind?

Explain the difference between open/closed, usable/unusable. In my experience RS and other sharing sites are unusable during the daytime on 384k. Torrents only start speeding up early next morning (this has been admitted by MWEB at long last). When I say speeding up, I don't mean full line speed either. If a torrent (daytime) says it will complete in a week or has that little infinity sign next to the ETA, then it is as near to useless as a block. Any other interpretation is just foolish.

The last bit you wrote about weekends is also BS
by the way. Weekends are not relief days for the
shaping. You may find some faster speeds at
around 2AM, but even they are not nearly optimum
for the line in use.

True. MWEB used to be very fast during the first 2 months. Then they started shaping like crazy. RS and HF was originally going at 100KB/sec each, now the combined total for MU, RS, HF etc is about 50KB/sec until about 22:00 where it goes up to 200KB/sec until 2am. After 2am you may get speeds of 300KB/sec. In the past speeds would go 400KB/sec from 2am onwards.

Weekends daytime - HF/RS/MU - about 120KB/sec max for all combined. The speeds are pretty consistent.

This is still better than what we had before April 2010 but it's deteriorated significantly.

MWEB basically succeeded in creating a chilling effect. People who in the past would DL happily will now feel 'worried' over downloading 'too much'. This is great psychology. It cuts down usage dramatically and combined with heavy shaping they will be able to reign in any people who download big amounts.

230ms in game ping to an EU WoW server is pretty impressive even with a proxy, regardless of ISP. The "get a better ISP" comment is rather clueless.

my usage is 500GB +- a month and no calls or emails from Mweb, I been with them since they launched the 4mbps uncapped..... Don’t stress
