When Steve goes

Since Steve Jobs returned to Apple 11 years ago, the company’s performance has been remarkable. Though its share price has fallen in the recent market turmoil, Apple continues to churn out hit products. But what happens when the iconic Jobs goes?

Other smartphone manufacturers are still struggling to catch up to the iPhone’s revolutionary touch interface, 15 months after Apple introduced the product. And in digital music players, nothing has yet come close to the iPod
Lies... just read this forum and you will soon realize that.

Jobs is Apple and Apple is Jobs
...and when he dies I hope apple dies and the smug cloud (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smug_Alert!) around the world will decrease by 80%.

Even though I'm the furtherst there could be to an Apply fanboy I think the article has great relevance. I think less thank Steve Jobs impact is the impact of the Chief Marketing Officer, whoever the hell that unsung hero is. Bottom line is Apple has probably the best marketing drive this century. They manage to infiltrate the heart and soul of the consumer through stretched truths, maximum cool factor, brand loyalty second to none and much pomp and glitter to spread their name on every horizon.

It's a marketing fete that other tech companies pale in comparison to. It is rather more for this reason than the quality and design of product (although this certainly has some role to play).

Like the rule of war, it's not always about what you have...it's about what they THINK you have.

Rouxenator, I agree, I mean does the world really need a challenger to Vista? It's almost perfect in every way...

Anyway. Lets just hope that they learn their lesson after the first time he left, whatever succession planning they have needs to replace him with a like minded individual who is just as revolutionary.

Vista might be exceptable for some, but XP SP3 is perfect for most. Not to mention Ubuntu when it comes to serious stuff.

Sorry dude, I don't get the link between south park and apple? can u link?
The smug cloud. Apple is the worlds biggest polluter in terms of smug and their contribution to the global smug cloud is massive.

Ahhhh lol, my bad, read the whole thing properly now..........agreed!

He has the power to get things done, but it's his way or the doorway.

That's the problem with Apple. If Jobs didn't want MMS on the iPhone3g, that's how it would be. He's not a team player.

Jobs is in it for the money and the fame, that's why :
* He forced to resign from Apple in 1985
* He sold NeXT to apple for a massive profit
* He defaulted to intel chips after bad mouthing them for so many years
* He sells his phone to selected networks

While I admit he is a visionary and I admire him for a few his achievements and qualities, I really cannot get over his attitude and the attitude of his company and the users of their products. Really, he is good, but not THAT good.

Oh come on, do we really need to be bombarded with iPhone crap every day? Is this an effort to try and push it onto people?

Fair enough this might be about Jobs leaving, but why the need to push some form of iPhone propaganda into every Apple related thread/article?

OMG you're kidding, seriously and all along I thought it was an altruistic belief in the goodness of mankind.

Who gives a toss if he's in it for the money, his products rock!
