When to stop maintenance payments?

AFAIK, maintenance payments will cease immediately and automatically on re-marriage.

In cases where the wife starts living with a new partner, the ex-husband can apply to the court for a reduction or for the maintenance payments to cease.
 
my dad's ex leeched over 7 million from him in the last 20 years of his payments but than he paid another million and thank god she's off the pay roll

I find it pathetic when women try to punish their ex-husbands with money.

I do understand that in terms of the law, you are entitled to it, but my pride would prevent me from taking one cent more than what is owing to me.

Some women consider divorce a mealticket for life.

I'm not entirely sure but this should have been covered in your original maintanence agreement
 
I just hate this "law" that you have to pay maintenance for the biatch - sorry I had to say this.
I mean she is old enough to look after herself. Why should I pay her anything? Suppose she cheated on you , and eventually you divorced her, but pay her for that? I hope the law changes on this ruling. It 50/50 after all.

Well, don't pay her anymore, if she moans you say that according to the court order she's earning a reasonable income and staying with someone with a job as well and because you're paying child support directly to your over 18 son/daughter you're not liable to support her anymore.

If she backs down you win. If she takes it to court you'll soon find out :)

You should pay for the child not the woman
