When will i7 Prices drop

if it makes you feel better i bought my i7 in october for R2400 for the processor :) and since then its gone up in price :) sitting at like R2700 now :P

first time i have had a computer appreciate in my life !

but due to mr cornen's badgering and nasty cheapskate name calling I was forced to get the asus p6t deluxe v2. :P hehehe thanks Corny ;)

Pleasure mate, just wanted to save you from a life of shame, self esteem issues and inferiority complexes. ;)

I still believe in buying the best motherboard my budget allows. It is the backbone of your system after all.

Bear in mind that the best motherboard is not necessarily the most expensive one, a mistake that many people make :erm:

The thing is, if you want i7 then you have to pay for it. The i5 is probably better value considering the total pricing, but if you have to have i7 the you are going to have to pay for it!
Not much of a gaming rig though with such high end stuff and then a GTS 250 though?!

Hahahahaha, i'm going to be running i7 with an S3 Virge DX that sports a whopping 4MB of RAM (i think the PCI slot bottlenecks it)

Yes...I can see the jealousy in your eyes

it's interesting that going bottom of the range i5 v i7 (sybaritic using cheapest mobo, lowest i5/7 and super talent dual/triple channel) sees a difference of about R2,800.

and then x58 i7 mobo offers sli/xfire (if that is your thing) plus likely i9 usage at a later stage.

Thats my plan ... to give myself opportunity for i9 .. i hear it also on 1366 thats one main reason
