When will iBurst reduce prices or increase caps?

Buy your own router.
Rent for your ADSL line (it's a subscription without contracts) is similar to your ISP subscription (although not 100% the same)

I am with you, but at the moment my Telkom voice line is on Prepaid.

I pay R130 per year to receive calls. I hardly use the line.

If I go on ADSL then I am forced to pay Telkom rent on my voice line. (I think R131 per month).

I will wait until the end of October and see what iBurst has to offer us, maybe they will surprise us...;)

Yeah I have issues re. Tekom linking Voice with ADSL too.
But I got the DoCloser Level 2 package on voice.
+- R170pm which gives me unlimited free local and long distance calls for up to 1hr per call during 'Callmore' time 7pm to 7am weekdays and all week end long.
+ Discounts on local and long distance calls during 'normal' time.

EDIT:

If you choose one of the Do 'Closer' packages for voice you pay nothing for installation.
If you choose a "Do" ADSL package and choose 'self-install' you pay nothing for installation.

We are not talking about the rest of the world... we are talking about South Africa. The wholesale costs of the bandwidth in ZA is more than that... someone is losing money on those accounts. This means that you are most likely subsidising those users with your Internet payments.

The wholesale cost of b/w is more than that in the US too, but they still manage it. Neotel has a R999 uncapped offering at 2.7 times iBurst speed without shaping, Axxess has an uncapped offering at 1/3 of iBurst speed but
for R999 - iBurst gives you 10GB for that and throttled 64kbps. Full on unlimited uncapped accounts go for R3000 - at 4Mb/sec.

I don't see how iBurst can sell boosters at R199 for 1GB where that covers only 15GB - while others can deliver uncapped access for this 15GB.

Remember ISP's don't get charged per GB, they get charged for the link.

Nope. People just seem to over react. The prices are a bit too high and sometime there are problems with the network. Still 1000x better than 3g and considering iBurst is wireless it contends quite well with fixed lines.
Interesting... Could you please say, how could less-than-1Mbps outdo almost-4Mbps and and around-3,6Mbps compete?
Just curious...

Iburst should double or even triple the cap. I pay R599.00 for 5GIGs where I can get double that over at Neotel for the same price.

If Iburst can do that I will have no reason to switch. I'm happy with their speeds and everything else, just the cap is way to small.

Some people download 20GIGs while throttled, I would rather take a 20GIG cap and then just be completely cut off when cap is reached.

WHAT!!! I pay R599 for 3.5 Gig. Been At iBurst for more than 2 years now. They never increased my CAP. Gonna call em.

I never said anything about out doing:rolleyes: But none the less iburst 1mb is much better than any speed 3G especially when it comes to online gaming. Also I always get full 1mb/s witch out performs the lower speed dsl lines obviously and considering how unstable 3g is I'm sure that I would be able to download a largish file faster that someone on 3G, My con never drops to gprs speeds:p

I have all opposite of you mentioned.
I get more-less than slowest ADSL.
Latencies never can be compared to ADSL, honestly.

When playing War3 online I get a latency of 40-50ms and if I'm not mistake the server is hosted in Capetown and I'm in JHB and for cod4 my latency is usually 80ms on the igame servers so i cant complain about latencies:p

Has this issue been resolved? Did you get results?

Was hecticly busy today will let you know as soon as I give em a call. 1.5 gig is alot of cap which I am not receiving every month although the new prices stated R599 for 5 GB.

I am also going to find out for how long this have been the case. I mean 1.5 gig loss per month is not cool.

Hi guys.

Just to clarify. If the web site reflects incorrectly please do not stress. The iBoss team is on the issue.

I referenced that link when I sent Shaun Green a message.

I did not know about it, checked my email and found no notifications.

What garantees iBurst that I will see this on the iBurst website or VIA other media?
And if there was complaints about automatically upgrading, why not just decrease the payment. Or try to contact the person VIA Telephone.

I mean so because some users complain others have to pay to much and lose 1.5 gig cap per month. I wonder how much money that will sum up.

Does anyone know when they revealed the upgrade packages?

Around May 2008, Iburst revised their packages and thus, they now offer 5G of bandwidth for R599, exactly double, the bandwidth.
The problem is, this was never clearly communicated to their clients.
As such, I found out yesterday that my account was NEVER upgraded,
nor was anyone's account who did not explicitly phone Iburst and ask for their package to be upgraded.

According to the info in that link, May 2008.

Ok then, so according to Ibursts website for 1 gig cap...

Code:
Apologies an error has ocurred during login.

Please try again later or call client services on 0877 20 20 20

Well well, I cant check what data cost since I cant logon. So I cant really calculate. Does anyone know what 1GB data is at iBurst ATM. Just data not including subscription?

How on earth do yo get 40-50ms latency on the War3 server. If i'm lucky I get between 60-90, and that is in the evenings. During the day there's noway i get under 150-250ms latency. With these kinds of latencies theres no way to play war3 games as you would know!

I get 100% signal strength with my omni antenna, and I can see the tower if i stand on my roof where the antenna is placed.
