hi guys

i am currently on a 384kb line, which is pretty much ok for my gaming and surfing sessions. i am thinking about upgrading to 4 meg but cant quite justify the extra 3 clips a month in expenses.

what i was wondering, is if there are any confirmed reports of telskum bumping everybodies linespeeds up a notch, like they did when they phased out 128kb lines ?

No I wouldn't count on that.

There is rumours that they tested 8 meg lines and that it was successful. But no time frame...

Your best bet would be to build a time machine, and hop forwards in 10 year increments and take a look.
P.S. Make sure the time machine can go back in time as well.

lol :D

you're all a bunch of comedians :-P

soooo, is the general consensus that that there is no point in waiting? i should jsut bite the bullet and upgrade to 4 meg ?

That's the consensus. Get the line and go for it. Or get the time machine...

Wait until August at least, when Telskum do their annual price review.

By then, Seacom will be operational and hopefully we will see things going the way of the consumer for a change.

i love telkom, telkom loves me, we make one big family, with a great big hug (corrupt) and a kiss from me to you, telkom said he will screw you tooooooooooo!!! (barny song)

see you on this topic a year from now, and as far as i know its shareholders are mostly Government twats who have been cripling this country for decades, why stop now, whats their incentive?(same goes for ISPs)
hopefully someone will set up a good wireless system with good reception, and we can all look to Telkom, smile and raise the middle finger
I will drop them as soon as there is fast reliable wireless in my area

LOL !! What if the first fast reliable wireless service in your area is Telkom 3G ???

lol then im moving to another country where they dont find it amusing to criple their country and progress :)
